Wellcome Centre Ethics and Humanities

The Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities (WEH) brings together four world-leading ethics and humanities research groups: The Ethox Centre, The Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, NEUROSEC and the Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine.

Located in Oxford’s Big Data Institute, the WEH conducts research on the ethical challenges that are posed by advances in neuroscience, data science, genomics and global connectedness, and their convergence. Through its activities, the Centre aims to lead debate on the ethical requirements for 21st Century scientific research and to develop an ethics that is capable of both improving health and health care, and promoting and sustaining public trust and confidence.

Awarded in December 2016, Ilina Singh is one of the four co-directors of the WEH, alongside Mark Harrison (History of Medicine), Michael Parker (Ethox) and Julian Savulescu (Uehiro).

The Centre is supported by a Wellcome Centre Grant (203132).
