About

Uniquely situated within the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, our team conducts independent ethics research and delivers ethical guidance for a range of scientific and clinical studies.

Our core research interests involve young people, mental health and neuroscience innovations in a global context.

Our work is international and highly interdisciplinary, bringing together expertise in bioethics, developmental psychology, anthropology, neuroscience and genomics. We build collaborative teams that represent a genuine, critically engaged and reflexive integration of science, ethics and society.

We hold a cross-appointment with the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics in the Faculty of Philosophy and have a close relationship with The Ethox Centre in the Nuffield Department for Population Health. Since October 2017, these collaborations form part of the new Wellcome Centre for Ethics and the Humanities located in the Big Data Institute. The centre will conduct research into the ethical aspects of advances in neuroscience, big data, genomics, and global connectedness.
